Location

The Kilamba Tower is located in Luanda Bay, Angola, and will be the headquarters of the Sacred Hope Foundation.

The Foundation, an important institution in Angola, needed a symbolic office building. In this new 107 metre high building, the first floors will serve as the institution’s headquarters and the rest of its 26 floors will be offices, including the ground floor and two basement floors, totalling around 21,000 m².

The project

The tower is not only recognisable by its height, but also by its design, in which in addition to the functional qualities characteristic of a commercial building, it should also be an identifiable project in the city’s day and night landscape.

To achieve this and at the same time reduce the high thermal load, the façades will be designed in the image of umbrellas. This climate defence is achieved along its height so that, despite its constructive simplicity, this film of “umbrellas” leaves cavities in the corners and allows artificial lighting to change lights and shadows during the night.

All the building’s entrances open onto a small square that maintains the traditional landscape of the Luanda Waterfront.
